Unconditionally in love with this song

SONG CRITIQUE OF THE WEEK: Unconditionally by Katy Perry                     *critique on lyrics*

"Unconditionally I will love you unconditionally..."

I always loved Katy Perry's songs and this one has to be my favorite. The second song off her new album PRISM, unconditionally, which is also rumored to be based on John Mayer, is a beautiful piece written about letting go and opening up to love again. Unconditionally is one of those songs where you could slow dance to and where you could share a meaningful moment with your other half.
I am not surprised that this song was ranked this week in the top 20 songs. But I am surprised that it's not in the top ten because I believe that this is one of her best songs yet. The meaning of the song goes into a deeper level with the sincere lyrics:

“Come just as you are to me
Don’t need apologies
Know that you are worthy
I’ll take your bad days with your good
Walk through this storm I would
I’d do it all because I love you, I love you”

“Acceptance is the key to be
To be truly free
Will you do the same for me?”

The lyrics actually mean that she truly wants to love him despite his flaws and she confesses her unconditional love to him but in the end its up to him to decide to love again and to let her in or not.

RATE: I definitely would rank this an IN for me

  1. I've heard this song on the radio a lot. I think it's okay. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I really enjoy a lot of Katy Perry's songs so I had to listen to this one when I heard of it. I haven't watched the music video yet, but I might. Maybe if I listen to the song long enough, i'll end up liking it.

  2. At first it was weird for me because the chorus was so repetitive and everything, and usually I don't like songs that are like. But then I listened to it and it got stuck in my head and yeah, then I liked it too :)

I really like the message of this song, and how it's about flaws and opening up yourself to trust another person and fall in love again. It's a really beautiful message and we hardly have any songs with goodd messages nowadays. :)
