Lego House

For my last post I thought I would do one of my personal favorite songs:

 Lego House by Ed Sheeran

Some might just judge the song title and think that it was a miscellaneous song about maybe legos or something child-like. But this song is deep, breath-taking and sentimental. I always loved Ed's songs and I somewhat am a huge fan of his work. His songs are not the usual kind; his lyrics is what makes his songs so appealing and how most of his songs can/are acoustic-like. This is one of my top favorite songs that he has personally written. 

The song is about someone who is regretful over breaking up with someone. He wants to win that someone special back, he wants to make amends and be happy with that someone again but she has her doubts. Within the song he gives her multiple reasons why they should try to be together again and that he can be good for her even though he wasn't at times before. 

One of my favorite lines in the song is: 

My three words have two meanings
There's one thing on my mind, it's all for you 

• He is basically saying he loves her in his own way. The 'three words' are only meant to be said to her. 

One of the most genuine lines of lyric:

And if you're broken I'll mend ya
And keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on now

• Basically saying that she can trust him with her heart if she's 'broken' then he'll do everything in his power to keep her from 'breaking' 

...and the last line: 

And out of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

• The last line seems the most convincing and good end to the song. Meaning that after everything that they have been through he has never loved her so much that at the very moment. 

UGH SO HEARTFELT .... well my that's opinion anyway.

I watched the music video and I thought it was really creepy and funny. I had no clue what the music video meant, therefore, I was left confused once the music video was over. After several watches, I realized that this music video is about a fan/ stalker who is obsessed with Ed Sheeran. The crazy stalker dresses like Sheeran, has a framed picture of him, chews his gum-basically does what a typical crazy, obsessed fan/ stalker would do-

Music Review: "The Conjuring"

The Conjuring is based on a true story. Starting in 1971, the story begins with one married couple, Carolyn and Roger Perron, who moves into a old farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island with their five daughters: Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cindy and April. Strange and unexplained things starts to happen to almost each family member and hidden places in the old farmhouse in which they resided in were soon discovered. Deeply disturbed and terrified, Carolyn Perron contacts the famous paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, to help them figure out why weird things are happening to them and the house itself. After visiting their house, Ed and Lorraine had come to a conclusion that there is a malevolent, demonic spirit haunting the Perron Family and it will not be an easy task to get rid of it. They need to get rid of the evil spirit before it kills everyone in the family.

I have watched a lot of horror movies and I found this particular movie to be very creepy because of the fact that "it is based on a true story." The director James Wan does an exceptional job at providing a chilling, fact-based background on the famous paranormal investigators: Ed and Lorraine Warren. Also, once the movie is over, there are real photos of the Perron family and photos of the old farmhouse. This gives a unique touch to the movie because it leaves people thinking whether or not this actually happened.
There were many scenes that were unexpected and terrifying. The Conjuring is not the typical horror movie that you usually watch and that's what makes the story exhilarating. Even though, there were some moments where I was on the edge of my chair and expecting something to pop out, I was still surprised and caught off guard. So, if you are the type of person who can't handle suspense and horror, then this is definitely not the movie for you to watch. This movie will put you on the edge.

On a side note, there are people who believes that this movie was actually based on a true story and there are disbelievers as well. The Conjuring is a must watch movie. Go watch and decide if it was based on a true story.

Movie Review: 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape"

The Academy Award and the Golden Globe 1994 nominated film “What’s Eating GIlbert Grape” is based on the complicated life of a young man with family issues but soon encounters a love interest that makes his life more hectic. Gilbert Grape, played by Johnny Depp, is a generous, caring person who is burdened with caring for his innocent brain damaged younger brother Arnie (played by Leonardo Dicaprio) and his depressed, obese mother Bonnie when Gilbert’s father is later to be revealed to have left the family three years ago. Gilbert is a young man who cares deeply for his friends and family, he is given the honor of being the man of the house but the task seems unsatisfying with all the responsibilities that comes along with it.

The clashing themes of family and love cause a whirlwind of troubles for Gilbert. When Becky suddenly comes into his life he gives his attention to her and leaves his chores, responsibilities, and relationships (affair) on hold just to spend time with her. Though she in some way is the reason why he has become irresponsible with his brother she teaches him that it is ok to want things for himself.

The movie is based on the humility that this young man has for being the son of the most obese person in town. We at one point in our lives can relate. We at a point in our lives have felt embarrassed a little by our parents or by our family in general.

I believe that this movie is not like any other. This movie doesn’t have a moral the purpose of this is to tell a story. A story of how love can change a life for the better. This movie isn’t action packed or has a meaningless death but it is about a typical family going through hard times, which we can also relate to.

I like the idea of not only have one obstacle for Gilbert, his mother but also his mentally disabled brother Arnie.

The performance that really shined through the whole movie was Leonardo Dicaprio’s performance of Arnie. It made a see a whole different side to him, he surprisingly successfully portrays Arnie as mentally disabled.

The ending was not that satisfying to me; at first I wasn't sure or supported the idea of burning the house down with the mother’s body still inside. But I liked the fact that it kept me wondering how Gilbert and his siblings lives were after they set the house on fire.

The song itself is unique as wells as the music video. I really don't know what the meaning behind the song is. I think its just a catchy song because of the beat and i think its one of those 'whatever' songs that you can play with whatever mood you are feeling at the time.
One of the reasons why I like the song is for its music video. The music video is simple but can be kind of complicated; a few friends cruising down the LA highway just wasting time. It is obvious that the song is about a girl that the main singer feels for since she is shown several times and is mentioned several times:

"She knows what I think about

And what I think about

One love, two mouths

One love, one house

No shirt, no blouse

Just us, you find out

Nothing that I wouldn't wanna tell you about, no"

but I don't see the relationship with him in a car with his friends and him with the girl.
One of the effects I found interesting was that the whole music video was in black and white and around the 2:50 point in the music music the scene is upside down and their group logo is shown which i have no clue what it signifies but the fact that i don't know makes it seem more interesting.

Sweater Weather by The Neighborhood

Sweater Weather is a really catchy song. It is the kind of song that makes people drift away in their own world. The lyrics "One love, Two mouths, One love, One house, No shirt, No blouse" paints a picture of two people in love and...yeah, the rest of it is up to your own interpretation. I am not really sure what the lyrics mean because, honestly, I find the lyrics to be very random.

But overall, this song is unique because it is fresh to my ears. Above are two versions of Sweater Weather: Max & Alyson Cover of Sweater Weather and the original version by the Neighborhood. The Max & Alyson Cover of Sweater Weather is very cool because of the way they sing the song gives it a unique and mysterious mood. Whereas, the original cover of Sweater Weather by the Neighborhood is very upbeat.

Wedding Dress: Music Vid

Song Critique of the week: Wedding Dress by TaeYang

*Review of Music Video*

I'm not really a huge fan of K-Pop (Korean Pop music) but Wedding Dress is a pretty catchy song even though I cant understand the majority of the song.
The overall it is about a guy who is heartbroken over the fact that he lost his chance to be with this girl who he fell head over heels for. She is now getting married and he feels alone and remembers their greatest times together and the times where he could have asked her to be his.

You can tell that from the start of the music video that the song is very heartfelt. The beginning when TaeYang is sitting on the piano bench looking frustrated with his his hands hover over the keys while reminiscing of his time with her this shows how much he feels for this one girl.
One of the most powerful parts of the music video is at the end when he flashes back to when he approached her at a gallery and gets her alone and begins to try to tell her how he feels but he is interrupted by her boyfriend who is later revealed to now be her fiancé, when he placed an engagement ring on her finger. Then he's back to reality and he's at her wedding, he looks at her from afar and realizes just how happy she is. Then he takes out an engagement ring that was obviously meant for her, he was going to propose to her the day that he confessed his feelings for her. Now that he sees her truly happy with another man, he lets go and the ring slips from his fingertips and slowly lands on the floor and the sound that the ring makes when it lands on the floor echoes symbolizing how empty and alone he is and the fact that he finally let her go.

The only part of the song any English speaker would understand would be the part when he says the title "wedding dress" and when he sings "...baby you should be my lady". Since the song is not entirely in English it lets listeners pay more attention to the overall message of the song.

The beat and tempo are really catchy and the overall feeling of the song is very emotional and sentimental. Notice that in every time he is alone the scene is very black and white which reflects how he feels for losing the one girl that brought color into his life.

One of the major issues with the music video for me is that I couldn't understand what he was saying for the majority of the song... so most of the time I was lost. But I could still follow the plot. If Tae Yang was singing in english then it would be the perfect music video for me.
